 Traveler Series - Scoring

Travelers Series Scoring

Classes and Awards

Fleets
The Travelers Series will be contested in Thistles, 420s, CFJs, Lasers, Laser Radials, and Optimists (Championship Fleet-overall position)

Positions and categories for awards
Trophies will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place for both skipper and each crew position. Also, there is perpetual trophy for the winning boat in each fleet.

Individual Scoring

Regatta Scoring
Crews and Skippers will be scored separately. The highest finishing crew member (skipper or crew) is awarded 1 point toward his Traveler Series score. The next highest finishing crew member is awarded 2 points. 3rd…3 points etc.

Scoring for regattas not attended
A competitor not attending a regatta will be placed one point below the total number of entries for the Summer Traveler Series, not simply one point below the total entries for each individual regatta.

Overall Score
The best 5 finishes will be totaled to determine final position.

Tie Breaker
Break the tie by using the next best finish:

5 of 8 5 of 7- - - (If the number of counter
6 of 8 6 of 7- - -  regattas is changed due to a cancellation)
7 of 8

If still tied:
Break tie by comparing greater number of 1st, 2nd etc. for all races.

Team Scoring

Trophy
There is a perpetual trophy awarded to the winning Yacht Club Jr. Sail Team.

Scoring
The top boat in any three classes will be scored for each club at each regatta. Each boat will be given a point corresponding to its finishing position in its respective fleet. The points will be totaled for all regattas to determine the overall team winner. (Low point scoring)

Tie Breaker
In the event of a team tie, the next best finish in any one class for any regatta would be added to the total score. The lowest scoring team would win. Repeat the process until the tie is broken (continue to take the next finish in any class in any regatta).
